In the summer of 2020, I had the pleasure of being a graphic design intern for the NFTA. During my internship, one of the projects I had the opportunity to work on, alongside the communications intern Katie, was to create a display to highlight murals made for the NFTA’s MTC building over 30 years ago which were recently taken down.
The backdrop of the case highlights the names of all the people who, 30 years ago as children, created tiles for these murals. The four boards contain information about the original artist who put the murals together, the murals themselves, the original unveiling ceremony, and the process of returning the tiles to their original creators.
Not only was I able to create the layouts for all the display boards and the backdrop while Katie wrote the copy, I also was lucky enough to be a part of the installation of the display with help from my colleagues! I’ve included some photos of the installation, a photo of the case as it was before the project was handed to us, and the tile murals before they were taken down for construction.
